The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is Scotland's leading animal welfare charity. The Society exists to prevent cruelty to animals and promote kindness and humanity in their treatment.
Our dedicated Inspectorate form the frontline in the fight against animal cruelty in Scotland and responds to over 100,000 calls for help every year, rescues animals in distress, provides advice and guidance to animal carers, advocates improved animal husbandry systems and helps shape animal welfare alongside the Society's parliamentary body.
In 2006, the Scottish SPCA's eleven animal welfare centres and one wildlife centre offered refuge, cared for and rehomed more than 12,000 injured, abused, neglected and orphaned pets, farm animals and wildlife.

The Society's Education Department provides a fully integrated programme in schools and works with the wider community to encourage positive and informed attitudes towards animals.
The Scottish SPCA receives no Government or Lottery funding and relies on public support to continue the vital role it performs protecting and improving animal welfare standards. Last year, it cost over £9 million to run the Society.
The Scottish SPCA is an entirely separate organisation from the RSPCA. Unfortunately every year Scottish animal lovers unwittingly donate to them without realising that their donations will do nothing to help Scotland's animals. Although we work closely to prevent animal cruelty, they work in England and Wales only. If you want to help animals in Scotland make sure that you give a donation to the Scottish SPCA. It's the Scottish SPCA that is dedicated to the protection and well being of Scotland's animals.
