| Notes |
- Non-specific physical trauma includes everything in which mechanical energy is
transmitted to the individual. This includes friction,
incision, laceration/tearing, puncture, blunt impact and torque/twisting/shearing-type
forces.
- The type and degree of injury will depend on the type and degree of force
involved as well as the size age and physiological condition of the bird and the area to
which the force is applied.
- Acute non-specific trauma may be a result of such disparate events as
improper handling, flying accidents, and hail storms.
- The potential effect of chronic low-level physical trauma - wear and tear
- particularly to feet from inappropriate substrates,
must also be remembered.
