The Button is Pressed for Open Access

Last Thursday Wildlife Information Network hosted a spectacular reception in London to launch the WIN Website going Open Access for developing world countries.

WIN publishes scientific information on the health and management of wild animals, and emerging diseases, to wildlife professional and decision-makers worldwide. Through their innovative Website they have originated a system to geographically identify visitors from developing countries who may now gain free access without constraint to all of the scientific and heavily referenced information.

Chief Executive of Wildlife Information Network, Mr Iain  Boardman gave a talk about the charity and its aims and was delighted to announce that of midnight of the evening 14/15 March, 2007 "… the 'Button was Pressed' and all developing countries can now get unlimited and unrestricted access to Wildpro® Multimedia, and the Electronic Encyclopaedia and Library". He asked all guests and correspondents to make this ground-breaking initiative as widely known as possible. "It is essential that this information is used as extensively as possible and I asked all those who can to spread the word. This heavily referenced information is needed throughout the world and particularly in developing countries. It will change the face of animal management and husbandry completely".
