How We Are Funded
Membership Subscription
WIN offers both individual and institutions the opportunity to join the Charity, and the annual subscription contributes to the everyday overhead needs of the Charity. The subscription base is growing all the time and members come from many and varied disciplines - government agencies (nationally and internationally), universities and colleges, conservation organisations, veterinarians, and those organisations dedicated to wildlife conservation welfare and the environment.
We see membership of WIN as a Partnership with our members to provide an expanding Electronic Encyclopaedia and Library, supported by CD-ROMs for off-line and field work. For details of how to join WIN and take a real part to our activities, see How to Subscribe...
Grant Support
The development of the information system Wildpro® Multimedia has been financed predominately by grants from Department for International Development of the UK Government (formerly the ODA), National Biological Information Infrastructure of the US Department of the Interior, Universities Federation for Animal Welfare, Marsh Christian Trust and the Bridge House Trust, Corporation of London.
Invaluable core support was given by The Balcombe Trust, the Dennis Curry Charitable Trust and Marsh Christian Trust.
WIN continues to actively seek grants or donations to research and produce new volumes. These volumes are intensively researched and take up to six months to complete followed by a six week peer review process. Depending on the subject, volumes usually cost in the region of GBP £35,000 / US $60,000 to produce, with larger modules involving additional accompaniments and widespread distribution requirements can increase the cost of a specialist module to GBP £120,000 or US $200,000.
WIN looks for support in cash and in kind from individuals and organisations committed to a very simple proposition: Wildlife & the Environment can be saved through Education. Information is very powerful and you or your company can help us provide that vital link.
To see Wildpro modules that require funding by your support, see the list on our home page...
